From “Eat Vegan on 4 dollars a Day” and can I do that?
Here is some good advice from the wonderful Ellen Jaffe Jones who wrote this book. She is right in alignment with how I feel about food, saving money and saving our great Mother Earth by what we consume, wear,do and more. So in her book is this list of Organics the dirty dozen and the top ten that are cleanest and easiest to eat without being organic . You choose then where your dollars are best spent.
The dirty dozen
celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, blueberries, nectarines, sweet bell peppers, spinach, cherries, kale and collard greens, potatoes, and imported grapes.
these conventionally grown fruits and vegetables have the fewest pesticides
onions,avocados,sweet corn (frozen),pineapples,mangoes,sweet peas(frozen),asparagus,kiwifruit,cabbages, and eggplants.
so this list is more food for thought today. Save where you can and choose organic when it is the most important. But always eat your veggies even if you can’t afford the organic , the benefits still out weigh you not eating them.. love your life and love your food. Karen
Ps don’t forget to grow your own whenever possible
