Use the gadgets you already have in your home to save time and money too how about using your rice cooker for more than just cooking rice. Is that possible?
When thinking about easy ways to make your meals and still be healthy and inexpensive it undoubtedly makes most of us say forget it! , too much work and too expensive. A while back I came across a book at our wonderful library that talked about how to use your rice cooker to make not just rice but whole meals in the rice cooker. So here is my idea on this from what I remember the book telling me. I usually cook two cups of rice at a time because we want leftovers and also the extra rice becomes another dish if the rice is plain
- 2 cups of rice
- brown rice add 3 1/4 cups of water or bullion.
- white rice add 3 cups of water or bullion
- choice of protein cooked ground beef, canned meat ,or soy crumbles 1/4 cup approximately plus1/2 package of your favorite vegetables either plain or with a light seasoning blend.
PS since I have written this my son has used the rice pot with success ,he is even cooking for his Dad!
