This non spending has to be a flexible plan that sets us up to have success not failures, right?
We have planned a no spend ,but not well enough right now , so to make this work our original plan has to change. . The plan has to be workable for the whole family and lots of times compromises must be made because there are different opinions on how things should be done. The key to success here is in the flexibility of our plan so no one feels restricted to the point of failure. That could be said with any plan ,especially a diet , or new healthy eating plan, budget,so on and so forth. We started with an assumption ,not a real honest to goodness look see in our pantry . So of course after a weeks time their are some deal breakers making themselves known to us. I figure with just a few changes we can still save and make this work. The money we need to get a few things will come off the dollars we put aside for our supplies monthly. The ones in which we are choosing to spend in. So stealing from Peter to pay Paul as long as there is money in there, should work . So if we spend 450.00 dollars for our food during March ,April or May we will take some dollars off this amount for our no spending time right now to get the supplies we need right now . After all this is a learning curve on not spending so much and being happy while doing it. To be really mad and feeling cheated will not promote us to keep on this path for very long , hence the relationship to the diet idea. Hope this works and keeps us on our path.
That being said we went out today and purchased some necessities that have might otherwise been a deal breaker for our family. Things like dish washing liquid, mushrooms and chocolate that make the world go round in our home . All is well in paradise. So otherwise we have stayed out of the stores and are looking at what we might already have here that will feed us and make us happy too. We made a great vegan “non-meat” loaf with rave reviews . We found a wonderful batch of mushroom gravy which was absolutely divine on our mashed potatoes with garlic and kale. Life is good. All these and more will be on recipe posts hopefully very soon. Quick and easy has been my motto except for date night which is a longer event where cooking and eating as a couple or with friends is the date. We decided to use up mystery leftovers in our big freezer , bless it and eat it. We are perusing our own cookbooks for a change, committing to using each cookbook and then rotating it to the left and using the next one on the right. That way we either use a cookbook or out it goes. Trying new things with what you already have on hand makes for creative meals and creative ideas in general. I get ideas just teaching my children how to cook with simple ingredients. Then I say why don’t I use that recipe? Happy cooking and eating
